Antonín Dvořák: Serenade for Strings in E major, Op. 22

Music has the power to transport us instantly through time and space. Faster than Google Earth, a few bars and we’re “long ago and far away.” Antonín Dvořák’s sumptuous Serenade for Strings is a musical postcard from 19th century Bohemia, the land Dvořák loved. A new trombone concerto from SF jazz star Wayne Wallace evokes the rich history of the people of early California and the transformation of Yerba Buena into San Francisco. And 18th century Austria will come alive under the talented fingers of our 2011–2012 debut artist, Hilda Huang, who will perform Franz Josef Haydn’s delightful Piano Concerto in D Major. Come along on our musical journey—no passport required!

Be sure to join Maestro Ben Simon for an engaging and informative onstage talk 30 minutes before the concert.

Admission is free, but tickets are required for non-members! Reserve online here, or call 415.692.5258 to make your reservation by phone. Doors open to the public 45 minutes before concert time.

SFCO supporting members receive priority seating and do not need tickests. Please bring membership card to concert, and please arrive no later than 15 minutes before concert time to guarantee yourself a seat. Doors open to SFCO supporting members 60 minutes before concert time. Admission to priority seating for members's guests is available for a suggested donation of $20 each.
